1st week

 Q1
I am a continuing student, so there are nothing new to me, but I learned that "cutting hair when they divorce" is common in other countries.  This information comes from Cynthia. I thought that habit is just in common in Japan, but it wasn't. In addition, there are some kind of habit which can be bad. For example, we must not  write names in red. Red is a image for blood, so we shouldn't.

Q2
I learned that some goods sold in America has bad quality.  Since I ride bicycle for my club activity, I sometimes buy some bicycle goods. However, those quality are horrible. I bought a parts called Crank few weeks ago, and this week I notice that the Crank makes some weird sound when I ride the bike. I checked it and there was 2 bolts missed.  I was so surprised that when we use goods made in Japan, it doesn't happen.  From this experience I learned that I must not depend on goods made in America.

Q3
When we learn language, we have to know about the background of those languages.  However, when we learn math, we don't have to learn backgrounds and also the rules in math is in common in all countries. In addition, we have to think about the implication for the words.  For example, the difference between tidal wave and tunami, but in math "4" indicates "4" in all countries.  These are the common difference between learning language and learning other subject.

Q4
We, second language learners, have to learn strategies, because it is important.  Especially it is very important to those who take TOEFL and TOEIC.  Strategies will be like weapon to beat the monster called TOEFL.  For example, when we do the listening test in TOEFL, we can pay attention to the important part in the conversation.  For people who don't take those test, it is also important, even if he is native speaker.  They also use their strategies in unconsciously.
